I’ve spent most of my life straddling the line between what I am expected to do and what I want for myself. I have always held a deep desire to be connected with others and help them do more than dream the impossible dream. At a very young age I created adventures such as learning to write with a pencil between my toes or finding as many new ways as possible to do an undesirable task. I spent time enjoying fluffy white clouds running across a blue sky and inventing thousands of uses for every day items. I got my first long-term job in the last few months of High School. It was a part-time sales position I swore would only last 6 months. I knew that I was not ready to go to college right out of High School, so I stayed “just for a little while”. Still with the same company twenty years- and many opportunities later- I was faced with a decision: What to do now that I have grown up. The company had gone out of business, forcing me to make many unplanned changes. Where had all that time gone? I graduated college, got married, had two children and bought a home. That’s what people do. But, in my striving to do my best and exceed expectations, I had lost track of who I was. Immersed in the many roles I played-wife, mother, friend, daughter, confidant, leader, entrepreneur, adventurer and more- I lost part of my excitement and joy. I realize as we plod along, it is too easy to lose track of our dreams. My inspiration for helping others to discover a fulfilling life earlier in the process came from watching my mom, a widow, raising 7 kids on her own without working. She amazingly found ways to stretch insurance money for over 25 years! Having dropped out of High School at 16 to work in a department store until she married a few years later, she wrestled with the thought of going back to work at age 50. She received her GED and went back to work when her youngest reached middle school. She fulfilled one of her biggest dreams and began to live a life she loved. As I watched her get out of her comfort zone, she became an amazing woman! I always wonder what any of us could achieve if we learned how to be “uncomfortable” a bit earlier in life. Cultivating Change is built around guiding clients toward living their purpose earlier in life and not waiting to realize their potential for unending bliss. It does take hard work; but when you are working hard towards something you truly enjoy, the effort is deeply worth it. The most important lessons I have learned include: My experience, knowledge and life journey have led me to work with clients who: If you believe the impossible, the incredible can come true.
